Modern & Lyrical Dance Classes
Pupils begin modern dancing around age 4 and we have classes all the way up to teen.
Modern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style which originated in America before travelling to the rest of the world. It is often seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps, and turns which all need strength and flexibility. This is a highly energetic dance style with many subgenres including jazz, musical theatre, blues and lyrical.
Lyrical dance is one of the sub-genres of modern that we make a point to teach regularly in class and is known for as a hybrid between ballet, contemporary and regular modern dance. There is an emphasis on interpreting the emotion of the song lyrics, producing a very beautiful art form which is very popular with our dancers and audiences.
Taught by ISTD qualified teacher. Examinations and show performance opportunities are offered.
